Mission

The College of Arts and Sciences is the intellectual foundation of the University. We cultivate a cooperative community within and beyond our campus by building on the College's core values of creativity, empathy, openness, and rigorous inquiry. Our mission is to:

  1. deliver a comprehensive and evidence-driven education that emphasizes active, independent thinking, encourages adaptive problem-solving, and installs ethical values;
  2. generate innovative and interdisciplinary research and creative activities;
  3. provide cultural enrichment and solutions for challenges faced by the communities we serve; and
  4. foster curiosity and habits of lifelong learning and success.

Undergraduate Programs

The College of Arts and Sciences offers a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum spanning the arts, humanities, natural and social sciences, and interdisciplinary programs. Our diverse programs are designed to help students explore their passions and prepare them for successful careers. A grounding in the liberal arts equips them with the creativity, flexibility, and adaptability needed to navigate a rapidly changing world. 

From research to study abroad, internships, artistic showcases, and performances, we provide a variety of opportunities for our students to apply classroom learning to real-world contexts, preparing them for successful careers in fields such as the arts, education, government, law, business, health, media, communication, and technology. Alumni from our college are key players and leaders in Jacksonville and surrounding Northeast Florida communities.

Graduate Programs

The College of Arts and Sciences offers some of the most venerable and well-established graduate programs in the University and takes great pride in helping our graduate students meet their personal and professional aspirations.

Master's degrees are available in the following fields: Biology, Criminal Justice, English, History, Materials Science and Engineering (in collaboration with the College of Computing, Construction, and Engineering), Mathematics/Statistics, Music, Public Administration, Psychology, and Social Work.

Given the mission of the University, many of these degrees focus on applied and practical knowledge. They are designed to serve graduate students who seek advanced education necessary for securing high-quality employment or career advancement. Many of our graduates hold leadership positions within the City of Jacksonville, regional industries, and at 成人AV视频. Additionally, students pursuing master's degrees at 成人AV视频 have been admitted to doctoral programs and professional schools (e.g., medical, or law schools).  We are committed to helping our graduate students achieve their personal and professional aspirations.
