Room Selection for Fall 2025 - Spring 2026

Instructions and Important Information

The on-line room selection process for First Time in College housing space for Fall 2025/Spring 2026 will begin July 10, 2025.

You will receive a highlighted Room Selection Timeslot for phase one on Wednesday, July 9th.

Time Ticket Reminders

  • You will receive a Time Ticket to know when you can enter and select form available bed spaces.
  • Your Time Ticket is based on the date you submitted your Academic Year 2025–2026 housing contract.
  • Do not log into the myHousing portal before your assigned time. No rooms will be visible, and early access may slow down the system for others.

Preparing for Room Selection

Before July 10, please ensure the following steps are completed:

  • Update Room and Roommate Preferences in the myHousing portal. Once room selection begins, changes cannot be made.
  • Confirm Roommate(s): You and your desired roommate(s) must mutually accept each other and be in the same Roommate Group. You can only select a room if your group can fill all beds in that room. Stand By List students will not eligible to be assigned.
  • Roommates on Standby list: You will be ineligible to assign yourself to a room during Phase 1 of room selection if your roommate group contains a member from the Standby list. Phase one will require you to fill the room you are selecting. Having a member in your roommate group that is not eligible for room selection, will result in the system not allowing your selection.
    • During Phase Two of Open Room Selection, you will only be able to assign yourself.
  • Understand Room Capacity: Most first-year rooms are doubles, with some triple occupancy rooms. You may accept up to five roommates, but we recommend no more than three.

Room Availability and Strategy

It is expected when room selection opens their will be beds available in Osprey Crossings, Osprey Cove and Osprey Hall.  Below is an estimate of the beds available to students as the process begins. Each building will be ratioed for a split for available male and female bedrooms.

As the process progresses, certain bed types may become unavailable due to student participation. Some communities may only show a section of a floor, while others may display multiple pages of options depending on the community size.

We understand you may have a preferred room or bed type. However, we strongly encourage you to have a backup plan, as availability will change quickly.

Additional Room Selection Tips

If you are already assigned or have already selected a space, but wish to change your space, you will only see your current available space, and will not be able to add a room to your cart, click save and continue. Then, upon reviewing your roommates, hit save and continue to view all available spaces, you will be able to adjust your assignment.

If you have created a roommate group that is mixed gender, during your appointment time, identify a space you wish to be assigned to in your community and give our office a call for a staff member to secure your assignment.

Changing or Skipping Phases

  • If you and your roommate have selected a space during Phase One, you have completed your assignment process. Do not participate in Phase Two, as doing so will forfeit your priority for the previously selected space.
  • You may change your room during your assigned phase, but this is at your own risk. Your original room may no longer be available.
  • Students who do not participate in Phases 1 or 2 will be assigned by Housing during Phase Three, based on preferences and availability.

What happens after I have selected my assignment?

There are several important things to note about the Room Selection process, such as:

  1. Students should visit myHousing during the applicable Room Selection Phase and time window for that phase as noted above. If a student misses their priority phase, they are not guaranteed their preferred space will be available to them in the next applicable phase.
  2.  During the Room Selection Phases, students will be able to change their previously selected assignment and choose a new one if they desire based on availability. It is important to note that you do so at your own risk. There is no guarantee your previous assignment will still be available if you decide that you want to try to change it back. Changing your assignment at any time is giving up whatever priority you may have had to the space.
  3. Any students that do not participate in Room Selection will receive additional communication about their assignment status. It is encouraged all students with a Time Ticket select a bedspace, even if it is not their ideal assignment.
  4. Assignment and roommate information will be available for students to view in myHousing once an assignment has been made.

Housing and Residence Life staff members will be available during the Room Selection period Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. to address Room Selection specific questions. We can be reached by calling 904-620-HOME (4663) or e-mailing housing@unf.edu
