Julie Myung Ok Song
Clinical Assistant Professor, Music Education
Dr. Julie M. Song is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Music Education at the School of Music at the 成人AV视频 (成人AV视频). At 成人AV视频, she teaches multiple courses related to music and music education, including Research in Music Education, Philosophy of Music Education, Teaching Elementary Music, and Secondary Choral Music Methods. She also oversees student-teaching internships, partnering with local districts and music teachers. Prior to 成人AV视频, Dr. Song taught at the University of Florida, New York University, and multiple universities in Korea. She has also taught students in K-12 and adult lifelong learning programs in both South Korea and the USA, covering choir and individual voice instruction across various genres of music, including classical, Broadway, pop, K-pop, and liturgical music.
Dr. Song’s research focuses on music teacher education, helping teachers find their teacher identity through music education philosophy, informal learning processes, and the creation of meaningful music classrooms. She has also investigated vocal health education for music teachers. Her research has been published in the International Journal of Music Education, the Journal of Music Teacher Education, and Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, and has been presented at numerous international, national, and regional conferences. Dr. Song also serves as an advisory editorial committee member for Music Educators Journal and as an ad hoc reviewer for leading music education journals, including the International Journal of Music Education.
Dr. Song has extensive performance experience as both a conductor and singer in Korea and the USA. She has conducted church choirs for more than 15 years in New York and Korea, often sings at local churches, and works with the non-profit organization Jacksonville Children's Chorus to help children and adult community members sing better and enrich the local music scene in Jacksonville. Dr. Song is a frequent adjudicator of Music Performance Assessment (MPA).
