Creating New Pages

Before creating a new page, check whether an existing page can be updated instead.

Adding a New Page

Navigate to and select the folder where you want to create the new page..

  1. Next click on the Add Content link in the top navigation bar.
  2. A window will appear showing the different types of content available for you to create.
  3. Pick the Page option.

A description of the types of pages can be found on the layout page.

Setting Up for Pages

All page types have a similar initial setup. Before creating a page, you'll need to choose its page name, placement folder and title.

page name, placement folder and title screen

Page Name:Determines the page's URL. Use lowercase letters and separate words with hyphens. Do not use spaces or special characters.

Example: https://unf.edu/cascade/manual/index.html

Placement Folder: Determines where the page is stored within your site. Select the appropriate folder, then click Choose.

Title: The page title displayed as the Heading 1 (H1). Choose a clear, meaningful title that describes the page's content.

Editing Your Content

The text editor works much like a standard word processor. You can format text, add headings and lists, create links, insert images and add other page elements using the editor toolbar.

  • Paste as plain text when bringing content from another source.
  • Use headings to organize content rather than simply changing the appearance of text.
  • Use the dedicated tools for links, images and tables.

Saving and Publishing

After you finish inputting your content, you have the following options:

  • Preview Draft: saves your work.
  • Comments: leave notes for other editors in your department.
  • Check Content & Submit button: Cascade will run a spell and link check.
Submitting is not publishing. Your changes will not appear on the live website until the page is published.
