I. PURPOSE

To establish consistent eligibility and calculation requirements for awarding Latin Honors upon completion of a baccalaureate degree.

II. APPLICABILITY

This policy applies to undergraduate students seeking a baccalaureate degree and the University employees responsible for determining, recording, and recognizing Latin Honors.

III.  DEFINITIONS

Latin Honors. Academic distinctions awarded to eligible undergraduate students based on their 成人AV视频 grade point average: cum laude, magna cum laude, and summa cum laude.

IV.  STATEMENT OF POLICY

Undergraduate students who complete at least forty-eight (48) semester hours at the 成人AV视频 (成人AV视频) – or 30 semester hours for RN-BSN students – and meet the GPA criteria below will be eligible for Latin Honors distinction upon completion of their degree:

  • cum laude (with honor): 成人AV视频 GPA of 3.50 – 3.64
  • magna cum laude (with great honor): 成人AV视频 GPA of 3.65 – 3.79
  • summa cum laude (with highest honor): 成人AV视频 GPA of 3.80 or higher.

V.  STATEMENT OF PROCEDURES

Criteria Determination

GPA calculations for Latin Honors will be based on all undergraduate level credits earned at 成人AV视频. Graduate level courses and transfer courses are not included in Latin Honors calculations.

If a student has used either a Grade Forgiveness or a Term Forgiveness, or has any NG (No Credit) grades, the originally recorded grades will be included in Latin Honors calculations.

Students with a previously reported and founded incident of academic misconduct are ineligible for the Latin Honors designation. Students do not have the right to appeal their ineligibility for Latin Honors if they did not pursue an appeal for the allegation of misconduct at the time it occurred or if that appeal was denied. See the University policy on Academic Misconduct.

For students earning a second baccalaureate degree, a minimum of 30 earned 成人AV视频 credit hours is required to be considered for Latin Honors.

Latin Honors is not available to master’s or doctoral degree candidates.

Recognition of Latin Honors Distinction for Graduating Students

Baccalaureate degree candidates who will have accumulated forty-eight (48) hours in-residence at 成人AV视频 (30 hours for RN-BSN students) by the end of the term of graduation and have the appropriate GPA prior to the term of graduation will be eligible to purchase a gold honor cord from the 成人AV视频 Bookstore. Latin Honors candidates will be recognized in the Commencement Program (provided they have elected to have their names included in the program). Candidates who are confirmed to have earned Latin Honors after the current term's grades are recorded will have the appropriate honors designation posted on their diploma and transcripts (baccalaureate degrees only).
